Before I formed you in the womb I knew[a] you,
before you were born I set you apart
God purposefully planned when He would begin knitting you in your mother’s womb. Because He created you, He knew you and your purpose before you were born, even before you were implanted in the womb. He knew and forked everything about you: your physical body, your inner spirit, your talents and passions. He set you apart for His glory. You are wonderfully made by your tender, compassionate, creative and loving Father. Rejoice in your creation by God!
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
When we recognize we need God’s help, we fearlessly can trust His promise to strengthen us. He holds us up with His victorious, righteous, comforting right hand. Let us claim His Word of truth that His presence ushers out fear and fills us with His strength, peace and power. He is so trustworthy.
1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Our peace is found in God’s loving care for us. When we humbly cast our fears on Him, He replaces them with His peace. Peter knew what it was to experience God’s peace and love through God’s forgiveness of Peter’s betrayal of Jesus; God didn’t let Peter be overcome with anxiety, but filled Him with the Holy Spirit to preach the good news of Christ and form the early church. With a compassionate heart, God transforms our anxieties by His peaceful presence. His glory shines in His peace wholly in us.
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
What are you anxious about? What burdens your heart? Do some soul-searching with the help of God’s Spirit. Then cast, one-by-one, each rock of anxiety to God. Tell Him, “Lord, I cast this burden to you.” Believe He will take and carry every burden. Let Him clear your mind and relieve your heart of every care. He will sustain you in His freedom and foundation of Christ.
“Because of the extravagance of those revelations, and so I wouldn’t get a big head, I was given the gift of a handicap to keep me in constant touch with my limitations. Satan’s angel did his best to get me down; what he in fact did was push me to my knees. No danger then of walking around high and mighty! At first I didn’t think of it as a gift, and begged God to remove it. Three times I did that, and then he told me, My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness. Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, these limitations that cut me down to size—abuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I become.”
2 Corinthians 12:7-10 MSG
How God longs to transform us by seeing our weaknesses and limitations in the light of His strength and power. What humility, joy, energy and peace come when we live on our knees, in dependence on our heavenly Father. His Son’s resurrection power comes into its own in us. Let us live wholly dependent on God to perfect His power in our weakness, as He transforms us into the image of His Son.
Matthew 7:7-8 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Ask the Giver of Life. Seek the Lover of your Soul. Knock on the door of your Father God’s heart. Open to receive His heavenly, healing light in. He longs to reveal to you His will for your inner transformation…His good, pleasing and perfect will. Open your inner self to His light and love.
“It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.”
As Christ was filled with the power and presence of God’s Spirit His entire life on Earth, His every decision purposefully glorified the Kingdom of God. Jesus chose to spend time in prayer, communing with His heavenly Father and God’s Spirit in Him. He left the distractions and the noise, found a place of quiet contemplation, and spent lengthy time in prayer. And this was for the glory of God. Prayer infused Jesus with God’s power, peace, and purpose. Father, help us choose to spend time in prayer and contemplation to Your Holy Trinity. In Christ’s Name, Amen!
