1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.
Paul prays for God’s children to be wholly sanctified, His Spirit making holy, blameless and fit our immortal spirit through Christ, our intellect, our emotions, our will and our physical body. Through God’s faithfulness, we are made completely holy, led to repentance and purified by Christ’s sacrifice. Let us depend on the One who makes us holy and glorify Him with our whole being. Lord, lead us on the path of holiness by your Spirit. Amen!
Ephesians 3:17-19 And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
How filling it is to pray and meditate on God’s deep love for us. Thank you, Father God, for your deep love. Thank you, Jesus Christ, for your deep love. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for your deep love. Love that cradles, carries and covers us. Amen.
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.”
God’s Son and Spirit free us from the power of sin over our lives. We are free from the constant obsession to be self-sufficient, free from the enslavement of selfish thinking, free from the persistent evil that seeks to separate us from God. God is our Provider, Sustainer, and Loving Father! We are FREE as His children, graced with His abundant love so we can fulfill His calling to love and serve others! Our hearts are freed from the power of sin and filled with the power of God’s love! Hallelujah!
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God shows us His love in and through Jesus Christ. Christ’s death and resurrection are the demonstration of God’s great love for us. When we feel lost, lonely, or unloved, reflect on the cross, for it is God’s love in action. Christ on the cross is our hope, salvation, constant companionship, and greatest example of God’s love. Oh Praise Him for how He loves His people!
Jeremiah 24:7 I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.
God’s love is sovereign and powerful. He finds His way into the deepest spaces of our hearts, changes our desires from selfishness to Christ-centeredness, and holds us close with His everlasting arms, reminding us we are His children. He constantly draws our hearts near to His heart.
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. -Jude 1:21
To keep yourself in the love of Christ, wait for His mercy, for He gives you eternal life. You are covered, protected, safe in His love. He longs to be merciful to you. Fix the gaze of your heart on Christ’s love. Look for His mercy always.
1 Peter 5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
Despite the Disciple Peter’s outspokenness and failings, God made Peter the rock on which the church stands. Peter understood our God is full of grace. He is the is the One who restores us to strength after our suffering. It is not in our own power that we become pillars of strength, steadfast in our faith. Acknowledge the grace and power of God through your suffering into your restoration and experience light and hope.
