Closeness of God

Psalm 34:18   The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

God is close, closer than your thoughts and closer than your heart.  He is very near us in our suffering, when we yearn for release.  He is present in the stark reality of our pain.  He loves to comfort the broken-hearted.  He rescues the crushed, the bruised, and the battered.  The cross is God’s identification with our suffering.  The resurrection is our hope of eternal healing.  Christ’s wounds are our salve.   May His closeness and His woundedness bring healing and hope.

Be My Peace, Lord

Psalm 29: 2-4, 11

“Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.
The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters.
The voice of the LORD is powerful….

The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace “

God is our strength and our peace.  Pray to God: “be my peace.”   His voice thunders with power and strength; His Spirit delivers quiet rest and everlasting peace.  Give glory to God by ascribing strength, power, honor and peace to His name.  Center yourself in His peace. Abide in His peaceful Spirit. He is the Prince of Peace.

Deep Calls to Deep

Psalm 42:7  Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.

God’s love, deeper than the water’s depths, calls to the deep in you. He created your heart to resonate with His unconditional, changeless and bottomless love. If you search deeply inside, you will know the desire and need for standing under God’s abundant waterfall of mercy and grace.  Let the waves of His grace and breakers of His hope sweep over you.  Be enveloped by the waters of His love. Let Him overcome any shallowness or callousness. Hear His deep call to your deep. You were created for depth with God. Experience the depth of His unconditional love and the waterfall of His overflowing mercy and grace.

Psalm of God’s Power

Psalm 97: 1 -2. The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice. Clouds and thick darkness surround him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

The Earth testifies that God is in control.  Our souls rejoice that He is Lord over all.  His justice reigns. His truth prevails.   When we are tempted to believe we are in control of our destiny, read the Psalms about God’s sovereignty and power.  He rules from the throne of righteousness.  He is Lord over all.  Even the farthest shores rejoice in our Lord and Savior!

Our Faith in God

2 Corinthians 5:7 …for we walk by faith, not by sight

Psalm 103:17 17 But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him.   His salvation extends to the children’s children of those who are faithful to his covenant,  of those who obey his commandments!

We WALK by faith.  We don’t sit idle.  We don’t walk by seeing what the world offers.   Step by step, we keep walking in full assurance of faith that God is with us.  His love lasts FOREVER.  The promise of His presence along our path extends from our lives to the salvation of our children and their children because of God’s covenant with His faithful people.  By obeying God’s Word,  remaining faithful along His guided path, and taking leaps of faith in our loving God, even our children and grandchildren  will be blessed with everlasting salvation.  We are covered in God’s goodness and covenant blessing; remain faithful to Him and keep walking by faith!!!!

Psalm of Deliverance

Psalm 50:14-14 “Sacrifice thank offerings to God,
fulfill your vows to the Most High,
15 and call on me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

Like a child offering a gift up to his parent,  or seeking comfort when hurt, we open our hearts in prayer to our Heavenly Father by offering thankful praises and asking Him to help us in our time of need.  God’s Presence is our deliverance.  Our childlike faithfulness brings Him joy and honor.  Let us open our hearts to praise God with reckless abandonment and seek Him in our distress, awaiting His full deliverance.

Oh Lord, we long to praise and honor you for all you have done and will do by your Spirit’s power in us, affirming we are your beloved children.  You deliver us from all distress and bring the joy of thanksgivibg to our hearts.  We praise you and adore you.  Amen.

God is for us!

“If God is for us, who can be against us?”  -Romans 8:31

The Creator of the universe, the Lover of your soul, the Savior of mankind, the Prince of Peace….He is FOR you.  He is your ultimate gift.  He is your greatest support.  He works out His good purposes in you. He fulfills your every need. He comforts you in sorrow. He protects you from all evil.  He restores your peace.  His path is righteous and trustworthy. His love in us conquers every fear.  His presence  is with us in every hardship.  Cling to the great promises from our God who is FOR us!

For, He is in control and He is the good Shepherd… Psalm 23:1-4 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.  He restores my soul.  He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Hopeful Waiting

Psalm 37:7 “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. 9 For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.”

God is instructing us to wait for Him, to be still before our almighty God, to hope in Him alone. When we fixate on others’ wrongdoing, our focus is shifted from hopeful waiting to anxious fretting. When we perceive what The Lord is doing in our own lives, we experience peaceful hope and await our inheritance in The Lord. His plans are to prosper us; wait on Him.
