Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand,
or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?
Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket,
or weighed the mountains on the scales
and the hills in a balance?
28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
Do you ever fall prey to thoughts of self-sufficiency? The false belief that you can manage everything on your own power? Are you left feeling exhausted?
God intended us to be grace-sufficient, thinking and living daily by His strength.
The promises in isaiah 40 remind us how powerful and renewing our God is. Notice how God does not say “can”…. He says “will.” When you hope in God instead of yourself, you will be strengthened and renewed by the same powerful hand that forged oceans, nations and heavens!!!
His power is independent of your thoughts and circumstances, and dependent on God’s unfathomable grace. Receive the grace that comes from God’s mighty hand to restore your strength and renew your mind.
