John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
Romans 6:5 if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection,
We overcome because of the Cross. We become because of the Resurrection. As we identify with Christ’s suffering on the Cross, we identify with Christ’s new life once He is resurrected from the dead. The Cross is the starting place for overcoming fear and receiving Christ’s surpassing peace. The Resurrection is the ending place for becoming our true, Christlike selves. God is making us new! We are in a process of becoming. Thank God for resurrecting our hearts! Because He overcomes, we overcome. Because He lives, we live.
