Romans 5:3-5  We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

We can rejoice not for our sufferings but when we suffer because we have God’s Spirit in us to help us endure, grow us in strength of character, and fill us with hope.  Hope in God does not disappoint, and this hope is grown out of endurance of suffering.  Let us rejoice that God is growing us into mature followers who stand confident in the hope of His eternal love and salvation.  We are gifted with God’s Spirit living in us, filling us with love, and this helps us not just endure but overflow with hope.
