Metamorphosis

1 Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Christ identifies with our wounds because He was wounded.  He felt the weight of our pain in His flesh on the cross. His scars are our salve.  He heals us by His redemptive suffering on the cross.  The cross becomes a symbol of metamorphosis from death to life.  Our humanly wounds no longer define us;  new life in Christ, our wounded Healer, is our transformed state of being. We now identify with Christ in His redemption from woundedness to wholeness, by God’s healing grace!
