Playing 2nd Fiddle

Romans 12:9-10 (MSG) “Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle.”

God instructs us to pursue goodness, and flee evil.  He teaches us to love authentically, without any falsity, by elevating others’ needs above our own.  In playing second fiddle, we empathize with Christ. God’s Word, embodied in Jesus Christ, exemplifies sacrificial love. If Jesus, the son of God, considered our needs above His own, even dying for us, surely we can follow by loving sacrificially, serving wholeheartedly and giving completely of ourselves. Great love is found in giving away self to bless someone else!
