Hunger for God’s Word

Deuteronomy 8:3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

Hard circumstances humble us to the point of dependence on God and seeking God’s Word for answers.  When we hunger for anything but God, we are humbled.  God teaches us, through trusting Him in our desperate circumstances,  that He is our sustenance and our sufficiency.  He wants us to hang on His every Word.  He lets us grow hungry, even ravenous for Him, and feeds our souls with His Word. His grace satisfies our every need.  2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
