“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. ” John 14:27
Christ gives us HIS peace. He leaves His peace with us, after the resurrection. His peace is not of the world. The world’s peace is momentary, fleeting, and conditional.
Can we even imagine Christ’s peace? His peace sustained Him through 3 years of ministry that resulted in others’ betrayal, accusation, fear, doubt, and pain. His peace allowed Him to suffer silently while He was beaten and crucified by those who praised Him just one week before. His peace gave Him supreme confidence and conviction to carry out God’s supreme purpose for the redemption of humanity. His peace carried Him through the cross to the empty tomb. His peace centered on His love for all of us.
You have His peace to sustain you through suffering, to convict you of truth, and to center you on love for God and others. Christ’s peace be with you always.
