Return to God

When we are listening to the voice of God, we hear Him calling us to return to Him. Any perceived distance between us and God is caused by us; He is right there. Sometimes, to close the distance, it requires a 180 degree turn from our current actions. Repentance, or “metanoia,” means to turn. God wants us to turn our back to darkness and sin, and turn toward Christ. This simple act of turning toward Christ fills us with hope and aliveness.

Isaiah 44:22 is a beautiful image of redemption: “I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud, and your sins like a heavy mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”

See how the mist separates us from our sin and false selves; the cloud hides darkness from us. We can distance ourselves from darkness, return to God to be united with Him.
