Psalm 46: 7 “The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields[d] with fire.
10 He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God'”
When you picture a fortress, it is impenetrable….a safe refuge for inhabitants. God is our fortress. His walls break the bow of the fiery arrows that try to harm us. He protects, preserves and brings peace. He commands us to “be still” and acknowledge His power. The Hebrew meaning of the phrase “be still” is “Enough!”. Cease doubting God’s power… and find a harbor of peace in His fortress of protection.
